Pricing

Is Voice Calculator free?

Voice Calculator is free to download from the App Store. The core features — voice input, continuous listening, calculation history, and basic export — are available at no cost. There is an optional in-app purchase that unlocks additional features. You can use the free version indefinitely with no time limit.

Is there a subscription?

No subscription. Any paid features in Voice Calculator are a one-time in-app purchase. We don't believe single-purpose utility apps need recurring fees. You pay once, you own it.

Features & Commands

What voice commands does Voice Calculator understand?

Voice Calculator understands:

Numbers: zero through any large number, including decimals ("forty-seven point three")

Operations: plus, minus, times / multiplied by, divided by

Tax: "plus tax" (applies your saved tax rate)

Results: "equals", "what's the total"

Corrections: "undo", "back" (removes last entry)

Reset: "clear", "reset"

Review: "read", "read back" (reads the full calculation aloud)

Copy: "copy" (copies result to clipboard)

A full command reference card is shown inside the app.

How do I add tax by voice?

First, set your rate once: open Settings inside the app, enter your local tax percentage (e.g., 8.5 for 8.5%), and save. Then, while calculating, say "plus tax" at any point. The app instantly applies your saved rate. It's stored permanently — you never need to enter it again.

It works with any operation: "one hundred twenty plus tax", "fifteen plus twenty plus tax", and so on. Tax applies to the current running total.

How does continuous listening work?

Tap the microphone button once and Voice Calculator stays in listening mode. You can speak several numbers and operations in a row without tapping anything between them. The app processes speech as a stream: "twenty-five plus thirty times two equals" runs as a single spoken calculation. Tap stop (or say "equals") when you're done.

Can I export my calculations?

Yes. Export your calculation history as a CSV file (opens in Excel, Numbers, or Google Sheets) or as plain text (for emails, notes, or messages). You can export the current session or your full history. Tap the Share icon to choose your format and destination.

What is the audit trail feature?

Voice Calculator saves every calculation step with a timestamp. The audit trail shows what you said, the running total after each step, and the final result. Useful for expense tracking, shopping trips, freelance quoting, or any situation where you need to review or share your work.

Can I use Voice Calculator while cooking?

Yes — cooking is one of the primary use cases. With wet, floury, or greasy hands, you can't safely touch a screen, but you can speak. Keep your iPhone on the counter, say your numbers out loud, and the app confirms every step. Great for scaling recipes, converting units, and totalling ingredient costs without stopping what you're doing.

Can I use Voice Calculator with AirPods or a Bluetooth headset?

Yes. When AirPods or any Bluetooth microphone are connected, iOS routes audio input through that mic automatically. Voice Calculator works with AirPods Pro, AirPods 3, AirPods Max, and most Bluetooth headsets. A closer microphone (like AirPods) improves accuracy in noisy environments compared to the iPhone's built-in mic at a distance.

Accuracy & Languages

How accurate is the voice recognition?

In a quiet environment, accuracy for numbers and math terms is typically above 95%. In noisy environments — busy kitchens, markets, crowded spaces — accuracy drops somewhat. The app reads every entry back to you so you can catch any errors immediately. Saying "undo" removes the last entry instantly.

What languages does Voice Calculator support?

Voice Calculator uses Apple's Speech Recognition framework, which supports over 50 languages and dialects including:

English (US, UK, Australian, Indian), Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Portuguese (Brazil and Portugal), Italian, Korean, Dutch, Russian, Arabic, Swedish, and many more.

To change the recognition language, go to iPhone Settings → Siri & Search and change the language there. Voice Calculator uses whichever language Apple's speech engine is set to.

What happens if Voice Calculator mishears a number?

Say "undo" or "back" immediately after the error. The app removes the last entry and you can re-say the correct number. Since the app reads each entry back as you go, you'll typically catch mistakes in real time before they affect the final total.

How is Voice Calculator different from asking Siri?

Siri handles one-off questions ("what is 47 plus 13?") but doesn't maintain a running total, save session history, or support multi-step calculations without re-inviting Siri each time. Voice Calculator is a persistent calculator: add many numbers across a long session, review the full history, export it, and chain operations continuously. It also works offline, while Siri requires an internet connection for most queries.

Privacy & Data

Does Voice Calculator store my voice recordings?

No. Voice Calculator processes speech in real time using Apple's Speech Recognition framework and immediately discards the audio. No recordings are stored on your device or uploaded anywhere. The app only listens while you're actively calculating — it does not run in the background or monitor ambient sound.

Does Voice Calculator work offline?

Yes, fully. When there is no internet connection, Voice Calculator uses Apple's on-device speech recognition. All calculation logic, tax settings, and history are stored locally on your device. No server is required for any feature.

Is my calculation history backed up?

Calculation history is stored locally on your device. If you have iCloud Backup enabled on your iPhone, your Voice Calculator data is included in the device backup. History is per-device and not synced across multiple iPhones in real time.

Does the app collect any personal data?

We collect only anonymous crash reports and basic usage analytics (e.g., "the export feature was used") to help fix bugs and improve the app. We do not collect your name, email, location, calculation content, or voice data. See the Privacy Policy for the full details.

Device & Compatibility

What iPhone models does Voice Calculator support?

Voice Calculator requires iOS 16 or later. It runs on iPhone SE (2nd generation and newer), iPhone 8, and all iPhones released since. It also supports iPad running iPadOS 16 or later.

Does Voice Calculator work on iPad?

Yes. Voice Calculator supports all iPads running iPadOS 16 or later. The interface scales to iPad screen sizes and all features work identically: voice input, tax, export, and history.

Is Voice Calculator available on Android?

No. Voice Calculator is an iOS-only app built natively in Swift. There is no Android version currently available.

Does it work on Apple Watch or Apple TV?

Not currently. Voice Calculator is designed for iPhone and iPad. There is no Apple Watch or Apple TV version at this time.
