A quick draw cowboy game you play with your phone
· Avinash Kumar
Cowboy Duel runs on iPhone. The game is available in English, German, Arabic and Chinese.
The quick draw is the oldest western scene: two gunslingers, a long wait, one signal. Cowboy Duel turns it into a reflex game played with your phone.
How you play
- Hold the phone vertically at your side, like a revolver in its holster.
- Wait. Don’t twitch, or it counts as a false start.
- When “FLIP!” appears, whip the phone horizontal.
- The game shows your time in milliseconds.
Three modes
- DRILLS: practice rounds to learn the timing.
- FREE FIRE: quick-fire rounds for your best times.
- SHOWDOWN: duel friends on nearby phones over local Wi-Fi, no internet needed.
Game Center leaderboards let you compare with other players.
Faster draws
- Grip loosely, wrist ready.
- A sharp, decisive flip registers sooner than a slow turn.
- Watch the screen, not your hand.
Great
The game is overall great. It feels like an actual duel. The only problem is is that my phone doesn’t pick up the flip about a half second later

Safety
Use a wrist strap if your case has one, and play over a sofa or bed. A sharp flip with a sweaty hand can send a phone flying.
