A voice calculator for iPhone that shows you what it heard

· Avinash Kumar

Voice Calculator runs on iPhone. The app is available in English, Japanese, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Chinese.

You can already ask Siri what 45 plus 120 is. The trouble starts with the tenth number, or when the phone hears “fifteen” and you said “fifty”.

Voice Calculator is built around that problem. I made it. This page covers what it does and where it falls short.

How it works

  1. Tap the mic.
  2. Say numbers and operations in plain language: “45 plus 120 plus 18”.
  3. Each value lands on a tape on screen as you go.
  4. Tap any entry that’s wrong to fix it, without starting over.
  5. Say “equals” and the app reads the total out loud.

So Convenient

Really love the voice input feature, it makes doing quick calculations feel effortless and natural.

Keep going in another app

Since version 1.1.3, the app keeps listening in the background. Start the mic, switch to your bank app, a PDF invoice or a spreadsheet, and read the numbers as you scroll. The running total stays in the Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen. Listening stops by itself after five minutes of silence.

Who uses it

Used this so much

As someone who uses the calculator app every 5 seconds, I have found this app such a time saver!
