How do you crop multiple photos at once on iPhone?
· Avinash Kumar
Batchly runs on iPhone and iPad. The app interface is in English.
The Photos app crops one picture at a time, so cropping a set means repeating the same steps for each photo. A batch photo editor lets you pick the aspect ratio once (square 1:1, 4:3, 16:9 or a custom ratio) and apply it to every selected photo in one run.
I build Batchly, which comes up below, so weigh my suggestions with that in mind.
When batch cropping makes sense
- Product listings where a shop or marketplace looks best with every image in the same shape.
- Social posts where a grid or carousel needs one ratio, such as square.
- Slides and documents where 16:9 or 4:3 images line up cleanly.
- Any set you want to look consistent side by side.
What to choose before you start
- Ratio. Pick it from where the photos will end up. Square suits grids and many listing thumbnails; 16:9 suits slides and video-style layouts.
- Order of steps. If you also resize or compress, crop first so the resize works on the final shape.
- Output format. If the photos will be uploaded to a site that does not handle HEIC well, convert to JPEG in the same run.
Doing it with Batchly
In Batchly you select the photos, add a crop step with 1:1, 4:3, 16:9 or a custom ratio, and chain other steps such as resize, watermark, compress or format conversion in the order you want. Everything runs on the device, offline and without an account, and your originals stay untouched because Batchly writes new files. With Pro you can save the chain as a workflow and reuse it next time. Batchly is free for up to 7 photos at a time; Pro removes the limit.
Check the results
Every photo gets the same shape, but your photos were not all framed the same way. Scroll through the output and look at shots where the subject sits near an edge. Re-crop those few by hand in Photos. It is still much faster than cropping the whole set one by one.

Questions people ask
- Can the iPhone Photos app crop several photos at once?
- Not directly. Photos crops one image at a time. You can copy edits from one photo and paste them onto others, but how well a pasted crop fits depends on each photo, so check them one by one. For a consistent ratio across a set, a batch tool is faster.
- Will batch cropping cut off the subject in some photos?
- It can. Every photo gets the same aspect ratio, so a subject close to the edge in one shot may be trimmed. Look through the results and redo those few individually.
