How do you edit multiple photos at once on iPhone?

· Avinash Kumar

Batchly runs on iPhone and iPad. The app interface is in English.

For a handful of photos, use the Photos app: edit one photo, copy its edits, select the others and paste. For a bigger set, or when you also need to resize, crop, watermark or convert, a batch photo editor applies the same steps to every selected photo in one run.

I build Batchly, which comes up below, so weigh my suggestions with that in mind.

Method 1: Copy Edits and Paste Edits in Photos

  1. Open a photo, tap Edit, adjust it (light, colour and so on) and tap Done.
  2. Tap the More button and choose Copy Edits.
  3. Go back to the library, tap Select and pick the other photos.
  4. Tap the More button and choose Paste Edits.

This works well for colour and light adjustments across a set shot in the same conditions. It changes the photos in your library, though you can revert each one. It does not resize, compress or convert, so you still have a second job before uploading.

Method 2: a batch editor

A batch editor works from a list of steps rather than one edited example. You pick the photos, add steps in order and export new files. That suits jobs like product photos, event sets or anything that needs a fixed size or format at the end.

Doing it with Batchly

Batchly adjusts brightness, contrast, saturation and exposure for all selected photos, and lets you chain other steps in the order you choose: resize by pixels, percent or presets, crop to 1:1, 4:3, 16:9 or custom, rotate or flip, add a watermark, compress, and convert between HEIC, JPEG, PNG and TIFF. It runs on the device, offline and without an account, and leaves your originals untouched. Pro lets you save the chain as a workflow and reuse it. Batchly is free for up to 7 photos at a time; Pro removes the limit.

Which to use

  • Same light fix on a few photos you will keep in your library: Copy and Paste Edits.
  • A set that has to come out at a given size, ratio or format, especially if you repeat the job: a batch editor.

Questions people ask

Why is Copy Edits greyed out on my iPhone?
Copy Edits only works on a photo that already has edits. Open a photo, adjust it, tap Done, then use the More menu to copy the edits. On an unedited photo there is nothing to copy.
Can I undo edits pasted onto many photos?
In Photos, yes. Edits there are non-destructive, so each photo can be reverted to the original. A batch editor like Batchly does not change the originals at all; it writes new files.
