What are Amazon's product image requirements?

· Avinash Kumar

Batchly runs on iPhone and iPad. The app interface is in English.

Amazon’s main image rules: pure white background (RGB 255, 255, 255), the product filling about 85% of the frame, and at least 1000 px on the longest side so customers can zoom. Files can be JPEG, TIFF, PNG or non-animated GIF.

This guide isn’t affiliated with Amazon. Check Seller Central’s product image guide before you upload, because category rules differ.

The main image checklist

  • White background, no props, no text, no logos added on top.
  • The product only, the one being sold.
  • Product fills about 85% of the image.
  • Longest side 1000 px or more; 1600 to 2000 px is common.
  • sRGB colour.

Secondary images have more freedom: lifestyle shots, scale, details.

Size and ratio

Use Suggested
Main image, square 2000 × 2000 px
Minimum for zoom 1000 px longest side
Maximum 10,000 px longest side

Square isn’t required, but it displays most evenly across search results.

Batch on iPhone

Batchly (my app) doesn’t remove backgrounds, so shoot on white or use a background tool first. Then:

  1. Crop to 1:1, leaving the product about 85% of the frame.
  2. Resize to 2000 px.
  3. Convert HEIC to JPEG.
  4. Add a little exposure or brightness if the white looks grey. One setting applies to every photo in the batch.

Batchly keeps EXIF and other metadata on export. Processing is offline, and originals stay as shot. Free handles 7 photos per batch, Pro is unlimited.
